Forest Reflections
This series of paintings are comprised of acrylic paint and coloured pencil. Inspired by the depth of dense forest and human made walkways, I started off by photographing different areas that represented these ideas. Then, manipulating these images, splicing them together and altering opacity and colour palette digitally. After arriving at a result I am excited about, I start to draw from these rendered images, picking out shapes and negative areas, attempting to represent what was on screen as best as possible. This process is hugely beneficial for my work as working with a layered source image allows for more interesting shapes to be pulled and requires more thought than simply using one flat source image.
