‘She’s hivin’ a wee lie doon’ - (She is having a little rest)
I never tire of the visual impact of black and white and find it visually exciting to incorporate the human form into the decorative elements of pattern and texture as well as juxtaposing space, solid black panels and areas of intricate detail. I simply start by taking a line for a walk and the proportions of the paper provide the inspiration for the composition, in this case, a reclining figure. The title of my work is a nod to my Glaswegian upbringing and my artwork will be placed in a black wooden frame measuring 30cm by 70cm.
